Success Stories: Katie
Weight can easily creep up
When I was pregnant with my first baby Eva, I threw myself into preparing for her arrival – including a meal for two. My partner and I owned an old-fashioned sweet shop and yes, I scoffed at Coke bottles and chocolates by the glass. When she was born I realized that eating for two had taken its toll – I was 16st 10lbs. I wanted to lose weight and be a strong and healthy mom.

Your supporters will motivate you
My mom, Deborah, was a Weight Watchers leader for 21 years, so I was in safe hands. I started planning, making healthier choices and cooking Weight Watchers recipes. We also started going for walks. At first my legs were aching and I was gasping for breath, but having a walking buddy motivated me to keep going. Make sure you warm up well before going out and stretch your legs afterwards.
Do things healthy
When I found out I was pregnant again, I had already learned the importance of cooking from scratch rather than relying on takeout. I also cut back on the amount of sugary treats I ate. When India was born, I wanted to start Weight Watchers right away to lose weight, but my family encouraged me to recover from the birth first.
Try new ideas
Despite trying to stay on track, I weighed more than 16 again. But I had already lost weight and knew I could do it again. The No Count approach worked like a treat for me – as a busy mum, not having to weigh and measure ingredients was a handy time saver. It took me nine months to reach my goal, and when I did, I burst into tears.
