A mum-of-two who was left looking ‘like a blow-up doll’ after an allergic reaction to lip fillers claims doctors laughed at her ‘fish lips’ when she went to hospital.
Charis Evans, 22, had been getting lip fillers for two years when she decided to try a different salon.
But after Charis, from Birkenhead, Merseyside, shelled out £90 for fillers, she claims her lips swelled to four times their normal size and felt like they might burst.
She said: ‘When I went and had them done, they started to swell quite soon afterwards.
Charis Evans, 22, from Merseyside (pictured before the procedure) had lip fillers for two years and was going for routine top-ups at a new salon.
The mother of two started noticing swelling a few hours after the procedure and was worried that her lips might “crack”.
“I went to see my mum and she said they looked really swollen, but they do swell to begin with. They were really swollen within hours.
“I looked like a blow-up doll. I had fish lips and it looked like I’d been in a fight.’
After feeling like the filler had “burst” out of her veins, Charis went to the health center at 2 a.m. where her doctor prescribed antihistamines.
“They were about four times bigger. They were really big. When I walked in, the doctor started laughing,” she said.
When Charis realized the swelling was not normal, she decided to go to the health center at 2am where the doctors laughed at her.
“Everyone I showed it to was disgusted. Luckily we had masks so I could hide it. I was wearing a mask even during the break, I took a bite of food and put the mask on.
“Mom said my face was ruined. I was afraid it wouldn’t go back to normal, I was panicking. It was painful and it was like [my lips] were opening.”
Fortunately, the swelling started to subside after a week, but months later, Charis is still suffering the effects.
“I try to avoid spicy foods because every time I eat something spicy my mom says I look like I’ve had them done again because they swell up and I feel a burning sensation like they’re stretching,” she explained.

“My lips still hurt.
Following the backlash, Charis shared photos of her lips on social media – which she said left many of her friends in stitches.
Others told her she shouldn’t have gotten lip fillers at all.
After her ordeal, Charis vowed never to get fillers again. She will also never allow her children Sophia, 2, and Bobby, 7 months, to have the procedure.
Charis said: “I haven’t had them since because it put me off for life. I would never make them again and I absolutely would not let the kids do it.
The mum-of-two (pictured earlier) also said she would never let her children get fillers when they were older.

After her body’s extreme and painful reaction to the filler, Charis’ nanny told her it was her “own fault” for having the filler injected.
“My body just reacted. Sometimes you don’t know what you’re putting in your face.
“I wish I’d never had them done.
“Some people thought it was funny and some people said “Oh my God, what have you done?” My nanny said it was my own fault.
“I want people to think twice before getting lip fillers. I got them because it was a trend at the time and a lot of young girls were doing it, but the pain and trauma wasn’t worth it.’
