The once decorated TV star now works as an Airtasker, doing chores to raise the funds to fly back to Los Angeles.

Airtasker is a Sydney-based company that outsources day-to-day tasks such as cleaning, booking, masonry and management.

During the Covid pandemic, Ajay put her career as a casting director in LA aside and returned to Sydney to be with her son Kai.

He is now fighting to complete his US visa.

While the US embassy in Sydney remains closed, she was forced to spend her last remaining savings on a flight to Fiji to complete her green card paperwork earlier this month.

“I’m broke,” Ajay told the Daily Telegraph’s Confidential.

“I’ve been living off all my savings for the past few years because I’m literally stuck in Australia and my job is in America.

“Paying check to pay check makes you feel like a loser…it’s expensive and the money’s gone.

“It’s a break, like living in a tent, and it’s a break, like paying two rents. But broke is broke.’

Ajay moved to the United States in 2009 to start over.

But in 2020, after more than a decade of living in Los Angeles, she flew back to Australia after not liking being locked in the United States so much.

“I spent 10 months in my locked flat as a prisoner terrified by this virus while millions of others were doing whatever they wanted and it just got out of hand,” she told the Daily Telegraph at the time.

“I just knew I had to go. I had that feeling. People here don’t realize how lucky they are.”

Leaving life in America was not easy for Ajay as she had to deal with a lot of red tape before she was allowed to fly out of the country.

Due to strict Covid-19 restrictions, it took her three months to find her way home.

“I got home in the end so I’m one of the lucky ones because there are so many who weren’t so lucky,” said the mother of one.

“I’m broke,” Ajay said. “I’ve been living off all my savings for the last couple of years because I’m literally stuck in Australia and my job is in America”

In 2021, Ajay revealed that he was following in Rebel Wilson’s footsteps after being inspired by the actress’ “year of health”.

Last year, she shared an Instagram post detailing her efforts, along with a photo of herself after a workout.

“Last week I made some key changes, so I switched my white bread to Soy Burgen (sorry, but Keto is not for me),” she began.

“There are NO lollipops in my house and yes the sugar cravings are real, I’ve had fruit or a small protein snack (eg jerky), introduced a TABATA workout (not fun), increased my water intake, had Brookfarm gluten free muesli and Greek yogurt for breakfast and most importantly – zero alcohol!’ she went on.

Tabata is a type of HIIT workout that involves eight 20 second rounds of strenuous exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest.

“I don’t know what I weigh because I don’t have a scale and that’s not important right now. Moving, making healthier choices and feeling better is the key to moving more,” she continued.

“I lost a few days with a bad back, which will be easier when I’m lighter. Don’t worry about what you can’t do, focus on what you can do.”

Months before she said she planned to shed the pounds she gained while in quarantine due to a health scare. “It’s time to take back your health and fitness! If Rebel Wilson can do it, so can I!” she wrote alongside her hospital selfie.

Ajay (pictured left in 2007 and right in 2020) has announced plans to lose the pounds she gained in quarantine following a health scare.

Ajay explained that she ended up in the emergency room for an EKG after her heart started racing, causing her blood pressure to rise and panic.

‘I’m fine. My EKG was normal but it scared me enough to wake up and start getting serious. So here’s to MY year of health!” she wrote.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Ajay said she was shocked to find out how big she was after seeing photos of herself snorkeling and swimming.

‘I looked at myself and went “s**t a bit bigger than I thought it was” and I was quite shocked and a bit worried for my health.’

‘It was really like, “Oh my God, holy s**t. What happened?” I’m like, well, you know, quarantine happened and I don’t know what happened. I lost the plot.

“I was inspired by Rebel’s weight loss. I was like, all the fat girls around me are losing weight. Mama June (Here Comes Honey Boo Boo) lost weight and now Rebel has lost all the weight.

“I looked at myself and I went ‘s**t a bit bigger than I thought it was’ and I was quite shocked and a bit worried for my health,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

Ajay went on to say that she doesn’t want to be “the last fat girl standing”.

“I was literally up on Rebel’s Instagram and she was acting like she was on the steps of the Opera House with her hot trainer. I’m like, well, I’ll take the stairs,” she laughed.

“I will follow in her footsteps and declare this year my year of health.”

Ajay hosted the weight loss show The Biggest Loser from 2006 to 2009 before moving to the US.

Her last television appearance was on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2019, but now mostly works behind the scenes.
