Beverley Callard has revealed she is about to go under the knife because she is ‘scared of getting any work’.
The Coronation Street actress, 64, who played landlady Liz McDonald and left the show in 2019 after 30 years, admitted she was ‘terrified’ of the operation.
Speaking about her facelift plans, Beverley told The Sun: “I will do it, yes. It’s hard because our industry is still so sexist and ageist.”

She went on to reflect on how many movies have husbands who are much older than their wives, saying that the wives are usually ‘stick insects… and their faces don’t move’.
“I’m just joining it because I’m afraid I won’t get a job,” she added.
The actress, who also appeared on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in 2020 it is thought he intends to carry out work at London’s Harley Street Skin Clinic.

And although she is quite determined to have the operation, her husband Jon McEwan and children Rebecca, 46, and Joshua, 32, are said to be less than thrilled.
Beverley dismissed their concerns, saying she ‘hates mirrors’ and is not very confident in her appearance, preferring to play a part rather than look like herself.
During the Girl Talk podcast in March, Melanie Blake also detailed Jon’s response to her facelift plans, saying, “Jon really doesn’t want me to do it.
“But I’m going to do it and I’m doing it for me.
As for the procedure itself, Beverley admitted she is “absolutely terrified” but is a little comforted knowing she will be asleep.

Beverley previously revealed she was offered a free facelift after leaving I’m A Celebrity during her time in the Welsh camp.
The star broke the news to her housemates before she was axed from the ITV show and said she was going to “take advantage” of their offer of a clinic.
The conversation started when AJ Pritchard, 26, told her: “You look very bright and fresh.”
And she replied, ‘Shall I tell you a secret?’ I was offered a free facelift when I leave here. And I have to tell you, I’m going to take the hell out of it after this!’
Beverley also dabbled in cosmetic surgery in 2013 when she appeared in the Sky cosmetic series Stitch Me, Lift Me, Tuck Me.
She said at the time: “I am very conscious of my neck. When I was 16, my neck looked about 50.”

The soap star also admitted she’s had botox, telling the show: ‘It’s amazing how quick and painless it is. I could become addicted.”
And as well as the surgery plans, Beverley recently detailed her desire to renew her vows with Jon after he ‘proposed again’ as she left the I’m A Celebrity castle.
She said Ok! magazine, she was planning a “relaxed” dress-casual ceremony when she remarries her partner.
Revealing how they decided to renew their commitment, Beverley said: “We both want to renew our wedding vows,
“When I came out of the castle I looked like a disaster and Jon was waiting for me at the hotel. He just said: Let’s do it, we’ll get married again. It was as if he suggested it again.’
