Amy Schumer has opened up about liposuction after previously saying she would never undergo any cosmetic surgery.
The 40-year-old comedian revealed she just wanted to find peace with her appearance after becoming terrified of seeing herself.
“It’s not about the need to bang, because I’ve never been famous for being hot, but I got to a place where I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror,” the Snatched star told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I got liposuction,” the Emmy winner said. “I never thought I would do something like this.
“Like when I heard liposuction I was just like, that’s so crazy to me and I’d say I’ll never do anything.”
The Trainwreck actress said that after she “turned 40” and “had a C-section” and had her uterus and appendix removed due to pain from endometriosis, liposuction became a viable option.

Schumer first opened up about undergoing the procedure in a Jan. 18 Instagram post in which she expressed gratitude to the doctors who helped her regain her “strength” through liposuction and endometriosis-related surgeries.
“I feel good,” she said. “Finally… I never thought I’d be doing anything but talking to me after 2.5 years of not contracting your uterus and turning 40.
Schumer told Handler about her public openness about the medical procedures: “I just wanted to say this because if anybody sees me in pictures or anything like that, looking thinner and whatever: it’s because I had surgery.
“It’s too hard and I want to be real about it.

Schumer said she was “sad” they couldn’t have more children, but focused on “enjoying [their] small family.”
“We tried, and we’re going to have one perfect, adorable little angel,” Schumer said.
Schumer stars in the upcoming show Life & Beth alongside Michael Cera and Violet Young. The show will premiere on Hulu on March 18.
The Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PST and will be broadcast live on ABC.
